Meet the Team
Lead Pastor Jon Morrison is married to Leigh and has two adult children. Jon lives in Muizenberg and loves nature and outdoor activities. He is passionate about the gospel and his local community.
Stephan Van Rooy is a student at GWC in Muizenberg. He
oversees both Youth and Young Adult ministries at Southreach. He is an avid reader and loves hosting pizza evenings at his home.
Mandy Van Der Mewer is married to Wes and has four children. She is passionate about kids ministry. Mandy oversees our children's
ministry Gr 0-5 and loves
sports and outdoor activities.
James Ruthen-Smith is married to Louise and has two teenage childern. James oversees our Music team and is a competent musician, playing in orchestra's and brass bands in and around Cape Town. He even surfs from time to time.
Githa Maralack has two
children.
Githa oversees our Audio
Visual team. She loves
cooking and socializing. She has a passion for the gospel and seeing people reached for Christ.
Leigh Morrison is married to Pastor Jon. She works in the ECD sector and is passionate about education
and people. Leigh oversees
our connect area which
includes the welcome team.

REACH
We want to be a Church that reaches out to our community with the truth of the gospel of Jesus. We engage with our community through regular topical sermons, such as our Winter life sermon series in July. We host events in & around Muizenberg - from Music to art to surfing that engages our local community. A few times a year we have our Life series that looks into life with Jesus.
CONNECT
We want to intentionally connect new people at Southreach to the life of the Church through hospitality and our Connect sessions. This helps people understand who were are and what we believe as a community.
GROW
We seek to deeply disciple all believers to full maturity in Christ through the Preaching & teaching of God's word. Our fellowship groups & kids ministries aim to make disciples who make disciples.
EQUIP
As a Church we value people.
We seek to develop & equip men, women & children for gospel ministry through regular in-house training sessions.  As part of a national denomination we also have access to quality national & regional training events.
GLORIFY
We encourage the magnification of God in all we do, especially as we gather each Sunday. We want to engage the heart through vibrant praise & worship. This means reminding each other of the great mercy of God in Christ, through singing worship songs that teach us the truth of Scripture. We sing in both English and Xhosa and encourage our gathering to freely praise God in song.
